These basic beliefs represent what we hold to be foundational to biblical teaching. They are the roots of our church which ground our identity and fuel our mission.
God
We believe in one God, maker of heaven and earth, who is without beginning or end, existing in perfect unity of three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is absolutely holy, just, merciful, and steadfast in love and faithfulness. He knows all things, searches all hearts, and is perfectly sovereign to accomplish his will he has established.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God the Son, who is truly God and truly man, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. For our sake he lived and dwelt among us, having suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried. According to the Scriptures, he rose bodily on the third day, and ascended into heaven. There he sits at the right hand of God the Father where he is our High Priest and Advocate and Lord, until one day he comes to judge both the living and the dead and usher in the new heavens and new earth – the completion of his redemptive mission. He has effected our redemption and reconciliation with God through his death on the cross and secured our future hope by his resurrection.
Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who works to glorify Jesus Christ in all that he does. He works now in the world to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Through his illumination he enables people to understand the truth found in Jesus Christ and to regenerate their hearts. By the Spirit’s power, the believer is sanctified, empowered, and illumined to pray, worship, and serve God according to the pattern and image of Jesus Christ.
Scripture
We believe that the Holy Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments, are divinely inspired and the result of the Holy Spirit’s illumination by the hands of human authors. The Scriptures comprise God’s fullest revelation of himself, his will for redemption through the history of Israel and the Son of God Jesus Christ, and the normative standard for all Christian life and faith. The Scriptures are inerrant in the original autographs and infallible to accomplish the work for which they were purposed. They are thus true and trustworthy, informing all Christian relationships to God, to each other, and to Creation.
Humanity
We believe all humans were originally created in God’s image as his vice-regents to rule the earth and subdue it perfectly according to God’s creative order. Humans, however, were tempted and fell by sinning against their Creator. God’s image remains imprinted upon all humans, but is irrevocably damaged as humanity is incapable to fully or rightly worship God, love one another, or care for his creation. All humans are sinners by nature and by choice, and only by regeneration by the Holy Spirit are they placed into union with Jesus Christ, in which their image may be restored on account of his incarnation, death, and resurrection.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. By His death on the cross, and resurrection on the third day, Jesus has paid the penalty for our sins and reconciled us eternally to God the Father. We have no other boast but the exclusive sufficiency of Christ in all things.
The Church
We believe the church is comprised of all those from every tongue, tribe, and nation who have from ages past to present been united to Jesus Christ through faith by God’s grace. The church is the bride of Christ awaiting his return, his body of which he is the head, and his building in which God dwells and is worshipped. The church is made visibly manifest in the presence of local congregations of believers who are sent on mission to declare the gospel and glorify God.
Last Things
We believe in the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ to defeat evil and death, to judge the living and the dead, to usher in the new heavens and the new earth.
