Blessing Without Footnotes

We’re beginning Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, located in Matthew 5–7. Jesus ascends a mountain to teach, and what he teaches in the Sermon on the Mount we can find a tough hill to climb. But in the Beatitudes, he makes the mountain low (cf. Isa. 40:4). These blessing statements are about his accessibility and generosity to us.
